ABOUT THE BOOK

Poems About You is a celebration of love and the challenges that accompanies being in love. This book compliments the emotions shared in my earlier publication 'Emotions and Belief'. I hope old readers and new readers alike will enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed creating it. This book is dedicated to the love of my life, everyone that is in love, that has ever loved and that will sooner or later fall in love. Love is a beautiful thing and it's a feeling we should all have the pleasure to enjoy in our lifetime. "And the Lord make you to increase And abound in LOVE one toward another, and toward all men, Even as we do toward you" -1 Thessalonian 3:12.

Olympic Games- Rio 2016

Lay the foundation of the arena with bronze,
And make the track with silver lining.
Mark the finish line with gold
And amplify the loud roar of the fans,
Cheering our golden boys and girls to victory.

Hold your breath for the 100m final,
And watch every stride of the fastest men on earth.
Be blown away by the routines of the gymnasts,
And the endurance of the marathoners.

Feel the splash of the water,
As every swimmer swims
And all rowers row,
Even as the sailors sail.

Gold, silver and bronze, we want them all,
As no effort of the competitors will be in vain.
To compete in the Olympics is not a joke,
So for those without medals,
Keep your heads high.

Congratulations to the Maroon Team, 5-2 winners of the 2014 (5th Annual) UOP Cup and its team captain, Alejandro Cardenas.  This year’s cup was the largest ever, with 46 participating players.  The 2014 “Golden Boot” trophy goes to Kelvin Obareti for his hat trick in the big game.   Attached are photos from the game and team party.  Special thanks to our referees and linesmen (Julian Ballarin) and to Karisma for taking most of the action photos.

About $400 raised through the cup was donated to Unicef to purchase anti-malarial drugs for children around the world.   Once a child is infected with malaria, they have about 24 hours to reach anti-malarial treatment after which their chance of survival decreases sharply. There are about 1 million people that die each year from malaria and the majority are young African children. One packet of Anti-Malarial Drugs has 30 doses which are sent to malaria-prone communities to guard against infection. With the UOP Soccer Club donations, we were able to purchase 13 packets and save the lives of 390 children!!!

The Wait Is Over For Andy Murray and Great Britain

Andy Murray lifting his trophy.
History was made today as Andy Murray was crowned the US Open Men's Champion in New York.
It's been a long wait for the Scot, as he had to wait till the fifth time to win his first grand slam. The 2012 Men's US open final featured a strong Djokovic who is currently world number two. It was not going to be an easy ride for Murray as he had to wait till the 5th set to be crowned the Champion.

The Showdown
2012 has been a very good year for Andy, as he made the Wimbledon final, won an Olympic gold medal for the men's single and now the US Open.
Murray's mum, Judy Murray, watched as her son cruised to victory and become the first Brit to win the US open after about 8 decades.

The second to the longest tennis match of the US Open Era (just 1 minute short of the longest) will go down in history as a showdown of a brilliant tennis match between two brilliant players of this generation. The match results are 6-2, 7-5, 2-6, 3-6 and 6-2. Andy Murray took home his trophy and a prize of $1.9million.
